THE ART SIDE OF CAPPADOCIA

Cappadocia has too many specialties on its own. Besides its unique and fascinating landscape views, it has an interesting life deep inside. Pottery masters and pottery workshops are a very good example of this life. The soil of Cappadocia has the best quality to make potteries for. People have been doing this art as a job for decades. Today this art still continues by the very good masters. The photos you see are taken by our founder Nuri Çorbacıoğlu, in a real pottery workshop, with a very talented and funny pottery master; Chez Gökhan.

Photography is not a touristic event; it needs its own requirements. It needs a background, a history, a culture behind the photo. In our tours, we try to show you the areas not known by most of the tourists to offer you a good photography experience. The real pottery workshops are one of these places. Here, you will have the chance to see every stage of making pottery. We will see the soil they use, clay making from the soil, the machines they use to make the clay more homogenous, the shaping stage and finally making pottery on a special table by talented hands.

It is an amazing opportunity to watch and photograph this process for photographers who like to take some portrait and local life photos. This is not just a tour for you, this is an encounter with a new culture, a new experience. Chez Gökhan is a pottery master, he has been doing this job since he is a child. He is a very friendly man, and let me warn you it is impossible to leave his workshop without drink his tea! :)
